FAQ
What do I need to bring and what am I responsible for?
You are responsible for purchasing the correct licenses/tags and obeying all laws in both MO and IA. Meat processing fees and taxidermy fees are not included in the hunt. You will need to bring your hunting clothing, weapon, safety harness, and any other equipment you will need for the hunt.
Do you have a local taxidermist and/or processor?
Yes, we have a world class taxidermist that is close to us that we send our clients too. He will ship your mount back to you when it is done. We also have a local processor that we use as well. We also have a place for our hunters to cut up their own deer if they wish.
What size of deer do you have in your area?
Our average deer is in the 140's. Every year we take deer that are between 140"-175" with a couple lucky hunters taking deer that score upwards of 200" although that is not the norm.
What are the meals like?
Breakfast is a continental breakfast with doughnuts, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, and several other things provided for you to eat at the lodge. Our lunch is a sack lunch for the hunters that sit all day but we also cook lunch back at the lodge for hunters who come in for lunch. Our dinner is a home cooked meal in the evening. We have snack available at the lodge but feel free to bring any of your favorites. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs.
What is the lodging like?
We have a comfortable lodge with semi-private bed rooms, 2 hunters to a room, and a big general living area. We provide towels, bed linens, and pillows. You are responsible for bringing your personal items.
What type of stands do you use?
We accommodate to all of our hunters and have a wide variety of setups. We use 20' climbing sticks with lock on stands, ladder stands, box blinds, and ground blinds. We also allow our hunters to bring their own climbers if they want.
Do you have food plots?
Yes, we have standing corn and beans. As well as plots with turnips, winter rye, and clover plots. We do a lot of hunting over these food sources.
Do you have a minimum score on bucks?
Yes, we have a 130" minimum for archery and 140" minimum for gun seasons. This is enforced with a $750 below minimum fee.
What does it cost to bring a non-hunting guest?
If there is room in the lodge we can accommodate a non-hunting guest for $100 a day.
What are the odds of drawing an Iowa tag?
Our Iowa tags in zone 7 and 8 are not as hard to get as some other areas in Iowa. Our bowhunters will draw with 1-2 preference points and most of gun hunters will draw with 0 preference points.
